Abstract: Covid-19 and the future of public administration : policy implications

The global pandemic has forced the African continent to realise the importance of implementing sought after innovative ideas in accelerating public service delivery. Buzzwords such as e-services, mobile services, e-governance, e-government, open governance and 4IR became practical interventions that were fully implemented by public institutions. This implies that public institutions were involuntarily coerced into embracing creativity and innovation to remain resilient in this agile, complex and uncertain environment. Agility in terms of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and organisational operations became the new normal. This called for "instant creativity and innovation to counter the destruction caused by the pandemic on service delivery" (Kauzya & Niland, 2020).
