Globalisation is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology. This process has effects on the environment, on culture, on political systems, on economic development and prosperity, and on human physical well-being in societies around the world. The progress of globalisation and the parallel challenge of the local electorate encourages the examination of the impact of globalisation and its conceptualisation at a local government level. Amid the abundant scholarship on globalisation, the perspective of impact differs from developed countries to developing countries. Globalisation has had positive and negative effects and hence a nuanced and deep approach is needed when discussing the concept.
