Abstract: Talent Management and Employee Job Crafting Within the South African Public Service

There is a body of findings in the South African context that suggests that root causes of poor service delivery in the public service are related to poor talent management. Despite this body of work, it is unclear whether good talent management strategies can influence employee agentic behaviours such as job crafting that are critical for good public service delivery. The aim of this study was to examine whether the perception of talent management can influence job crafting behaviours of public servants in South Africa. Participants in the study were 279 employees who work for three government departments in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. Data was analysed through factor analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The findings suggest that perceptions of Talent Management had positive and significant influence on job crafting. Notably, the dimens
