The Covid-19 pandemic has placed the importance of human rights firmly in the spotlight, particularly as it has resulted in certain rights’ limitations. As the pandemic is forcing everyone to live and work in different ways, technology and access to technology has become critical. While South Africa is recognised for laws and policies that are progressive, technology has not advanced women, specifically black women, from poverty and dispossession. In this paper, focus is on how technology can both inhibit and empower women. Therefore, addressing women’s rights and access to technology is highly beneficial at this stage when vast developments accompany the disruptive force of the pandemic.
