Abstract: Developing and maintaining a corporate culture through leadership for service delivery

This article argues that some of the service delivery-related concerns raised by members of the public are attributable to poor leadership in some of the government departments. The concept of leadership in this article is not about the positions that employees occupy in the public service. It is instead about the behaviour of the public officials in the delivery of services to the clientele communities. This article further argues that through leadership, that is, desirable behaviour in the public service, a corporate culture can be developed and maintained. The development and maintenance of a corporate culture can translate into the improvement of the quality of the delivery of public services at all spheres. This imperative entails public officials changing on their behaviour at service points and beyond. This is a development that would lead to both the development and maintenance of a corporate culture in the public service. Th
