Abstract: Africa's new public policy : imperatives for globalisation and nation-building in Nigeria, Edwin Okey Ijeoma : book review

Since the late 1980s there has been a growing interest in globalisation and its influence on trade and commerce both in the advanced industrialised countries of the North and the developing countries of the South. The proliferation of ideas on globalisation has invariably and almost with distinct bias focused on trade, with most texts leaning to the notion about the inevitability of the phenomenon and the declining role of the state in the process of globalisation. Few texts have been country-specific in exploring the impact of globalisation on developing countries and more specifically in exploring issues of governance and this is where Edwin Okey Ijeoma's text Africa's New Public Policy, comes in handy. The text deconstructs globalisation as a concept, its manifestations, how it operates and its influence on the nation-state and economies of developing countries, specifically on Nigeria.
